I really like the lighting in this piece! the dark behind the door makes it spooky
Great effort in overall value patterns. There is a cleare compositional pattern created by mass of values. I agree with @Theo Swanson Brownell and love the little sliver of darkness created by the crack in in the doorway...it draws the viewer in and creates an effective focal area. Great job with dimensions and layers of space.
Overall I would say I used value patterning over line. I did rely more on line when I was drawing the door and closet molding as well as the rectangles on them (it was just hard to get detailed value into that skinny of an area). The only other thing I would say is some of the implied lines could have been straighter, so when doing a piece like this again I will definitely consider using a ruler. 🔦
Agreed. On door and closet molding look at it interms of various planes and how each plane is catching the lightsource in a different way creating subtle changes in value.
DONT use a ruler! It takes away from your beautiful mark and natural ability to draw.
