I'm doing a commission of Jesus for my grandma's freind. I'm early in the process of making it I'm stuck between a 3/4 view or a front facing view drawing of it. So far here are my prelims/sketches.
Both are powerful. The 3/4 is dynamic and personal with the inner feeling as very caring. The straight on view is symbolic and illumination really shines through.
i like the 3/4th view!! i feel like the position lends itself well to your style and like Karrie said it feels more personal :)
The appearance of him looking downwards in the 3/4ths view has a very god like appeal, like he’s watching over something.
I really like these sketches, maybe consider front facing if you are going for a powerful tone, but, like everyone else said, 3/4 make me sympathetic.
