16" x 20"
Acrylic on Canvas
I painted this piece during the foggy hours of dawn. It was one of those days I had no idea what I would paint. The tree was painted from observation. The oriole was a moment that I had to capture by memory. The style and technique was partly used to capture the foggy feeling, but also a metaphor for emerging from the dreamstate into waking life. If you notice, the paint goes from a translucent thin layering to hightly textured illustrating the contrast between the ethereal and the physical aspects of life.
