Roses is a stylistically transition piece. On the verge of jumping into my trademark alla prima style, I dipped back into my fscination with the Golden Mean and Sacred Spiral inherent in all blooms. The lighting falling on the comlextity of each rose in its individual stage of blooming is what captivated me with this botanical painting. I saved the alla prima marks for empasis on the fragrant tips of the folding petals. These rose bushes lined the entrance of the  public library. I am truly one of those artists who actually stops to smell the roses, and what a gift.
